On the 24^th April 2009 the UK held it's first official meeting for the Vasco da Gama Movement. Around 50 GP trainees and young GPs attended from across the UK. The day was great success with speakers from our Royal College of General Practitioners including Iona Heath and Steve Mowle. GP trainees who had attended the WONCA Europe conference last year, and the Dutch exchange in Utrecht this year also gave fantastic presentations. Chantal Emaus, one of the founders of the Dutch 'WES' and member of the VdGM Executive Council gave a truly inspirational talk on how to set up a junior international committee. Many brilliant discussions took place. These gave rise to excellent ideas and plans that will allow the UK to become more involved in the Vasco da Gama Movement over the years to come.
